Encouragement is such a needful thing in every single person’s life! Have you ever met someone who has been “too” encouraged in life? We all need encouragement, but what actually is it? Encouragement is one of the reasons that prophecy is necessary and what it does to the receiver is truly God designed. Take a look at the book of 1 Corinthians 14:3

One of my favorite scripture pertaining to the subject of encouragement that involves prophets is found in the book of Acts 15: 30-35; “So, when they were sent off, they went down to Antioch, and having gathered the congregation together, they delivered the letter. And when they had read it, they rejoiced because of its encouragement. And Judas and Silas, who were themselves prophets, encouraged and strengthened the brothers with many words. And after they had spent some time, they were sent off in peace by the brothers to those who had sent them. But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also”.

Prophecy is supposed to have an element of encouragement for those who receive the life giving words.
Multiple confirmations of promises GOD has given you brings encouragement to that individual. If God gives me a word I ask for confirmation for that word. The greater the ask of me to do something, the greater the need I believe for confirmation. If I am being asked to move to another city, state or nation … then I better have confirmation before I move. In the book of 1 Timothy 4: 13 we read, “Until I come give attention to reading along with prophecy. (until Jesus comes), give attendance to reading, exhortation and to doctrine. The word exhortation is in correlation to prophesying”.

Another thing that brings encouragement to a believer in Christ Jesus is found in the book of Hebrews 10:25 – “Let us not give up the habit of meeting together!” There is a community and support and encouragement in our daily walk with Christ. There should be encouragement daily in the life of the believer, if people were encouraged, they wouldn’t be depressed. I want to be the person who encourages others often and who is being encouraged by others as well. God wants to encourage us to keep walking and not to give up.
HE has a way of bringing us into a place of living in courage.

Encouragement catapults people to reaching full maturity, helping them produce more Godly fruit. Bringing people to full discipleship stature in Christ is the goal. To see mature disciples made in Christ is the heart of every father and mother, in Christ Jesus.
The gift of encouragement is a gift from the Holy Spirit, mentioned in Romans 12:8. Encouragement helps people stay the course of Godly living and keeps them going.
Let’s all give courage to others!

Blessings, David.
